Assisted Living Facilities
Is Assisted Living Appropriate For You?
Assisted living is residential care for people who can no longer live independently. They typically provide personal care, prepared meals and housekeeping services. People who live in assisted living facilities usually need help with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as eating, bathing and grooming, dressing, mobility, and going to the bathroom.
Residents must not require on-going medical treatment or be bedridden and must be able to get from their apartment to the dining room with little assistance.
Medicare, Medicaid or HUD Programs DO NOT provide any benefits so residents must be able to afford to pay for Assisted Living Rents out of pocket from their own personal funds or a Long-Term Care insurance policy.
Rents are typically $2,000 - $4,000 per month.
